  • Ann Hugh

    SECRETARY

Ann Hugh grew up in England, the daughter of an R.A.F. (Royal Air Force) officer. They moved house about every year and boarding school at twelve was her eighth school. After college, Ann worked for management consultants in London and, later (for an adventure) in Montreal, where she met her Scottish husband, had three children and volunteered with an environmental group which, among other achievements, successfully pressured the City of Montreal into building its first sewage treatment plant.

Eventually her husband’s work moved the family to New Jersey, Texas and California – all in two years. What luck to end up on this remarkable peninsula, with its Mediterranean climate (remember Montreal winters!) and lovely people.

For many years Ann served on the PVE Parklands’ Committee, ran campaigns, etc. She treasures memories of writing and acting in more than twenty skits at Las Candalistas’ Walk on the Wildside in Portuguese Bend. She found that teaching by making people laugh can be intoxicating. Ann’s book about the battle to restore Malaga Cove Plaza is entitled “Almost Wonderful”.
